Highly recommend having their Ipoh Hor Fun & their Hainanese Chicken Rice as their food is very delicious. Price for the food is also reasonable as well.

If you're craving for a bowl of Ipoh hor fun but are not willing to drive all the way to Ipoh for it, Restaurant Chong Thoong Kee is the place to go. Sitting behind the TTDI market, this coffee shop specializes in Ipoh hor fun, Hainanese chicken rice and prawn wantan. The Ipoh hor fun (RM6.50 for small, RM7.50 for big) here is served in soup or dry with a little bit of gravy. I recommend the soup one, as the gravy one might be a bit too salty. The hor fun is always cooked to perfection, and served silky smooth without being soggy. I particularly like how the restaurant is not stingy with their serving, as each bowl comes with an abundance of sliced chicken breast, prawns and lots of Chinese chives. But the best bit of the Ipoh hor fun here is the soup which is clear and has the undeniable sweetness of broth cooked with actual prawns. None of that artificial, bland soup that you get at local kopitiams. I ordered my hor fun with an extra serving of prawn wantan (RM8.50 per bowl). The wantan served here are slightly smaller than average, but each one has a fresh prawn in it. Wantan can be ordered as a full side as well, in servings of 10 pieces (RM7.50) or 15 pieces (RM11). The chicken rice (RM6.50) here is alright, and the chicken is definitely more delicious when mixed with the gravy and the oily, buttery rice. I like the local ice coffee served here too, as it was rich and not watered down.Parking is hard to come by on weekdays, but lines are short. However, on weekends, parking is slightly easier to get but prepare for the long wait.

Chong Toong Kee is your typical Chinese chicken rice stall that you can find in almost every corner in KL, and of course, serves the better one than the others. My best friend and I got to this place by stumbling into it, and what you can get in that chicken rice stall is your steamed chicken, fragrant rice, oyster sauce, that bowl of unhealthy soup and the obligatory chopped ginger that resides on your table, the usual fanfare for all chicken rice stalls. However, its taste is pretty much superior to most chicken rice stalls that I went to due to its amazing texture and their focus being on just one single dish, thus making it an extremely good plate of chicken rice for all chicken rice lovers. You might have to come out of this restaurant with the smell of chicken and soy sauce, but with the flavor profile that this restaurant provides, I am pretty sure even the most demanding of humans will not be mad by it.

  • Signature Dishes: At the forefront of their menu is the famed Ipoh hor fun, a dish that Timothy K. highly recommends for its delicious flavor and silky texture. Available in both soup and dry versions, the soup variation is particularly celebrated for its clear broth brimming with sweetness – the result of being simmered with fresh prawns.
  • Hainanese Chicken Rice: Andy L. applauds the restaurant's unwavering commitment to perfecting this local favorite. The tender steamed chicken paired with fragrant rice and a drizzle of flavorful oyster sauce creates a satisfying combination that never disappoints.
  • Prawn Wantan: Don't miss out on the prawn wantan, served in comforting bowls or as a full side. These little parcels are packed with freshness and easily add to the overall delightful dining experience.
